Waterproofing for  Swimming Pool : Step by Step Process

Swimming pool leaks are frustrating – and addressing them is often expensive, time-consuming, and sometimes requires removing tile and adhesives.

Here are step  process for swimming pool waterproofing;

• CAST CONCRETE

Cast your concrete with either crystalline waterproofing admixtures or non-crystalline waterproofing admixture. Admixtures are permanently active and can seal a crack.

This ensures your concrete is protected from the ingress of water.

• SWIMMING POOL SURFACE PREPARATION

The first thing you would do is prepare the substrate. Meaning remove any loose crumbly substrate, make sure the substrate is clean, dry, free of any previous applied products, and foreign matter.

• HOLES OR DAMAGED CONCRETE

Holes will appear whether big or small also in the case of damaged concrete, the areas should be cleaned and damped. Fill holes and repair the damaged concrete.

• JOINTS

For construction joints and movement joints, it is important that you use water stops; for sealing of these joints. The swell able water stops expands when it comes in contact with water.

• WATER PROOFING OF SWIMMING POOL

You can waterproof your swimming pools you need flexible waterproofing membrane that can continuously withstand extreme hydrostatic pressure. Armorcoat  should be applied after plastering/ before placing of tiles.

• TILING  OF SWIMMING POOL

The walls and floor of the swimming pool has to be fixed with tile adhesives that is fast setting, has high adhesive, tensile strength and has impressive waterproofing properties.

• GROUTING OF  SWIMMING POOL

After the tiles have been fixed, and the area has being cleaned and allowed to set. The joints should be filled with Armor grout .
